Styrofoam containers used to bring in fresh food from mainland China have piled up on Hong Kong streets after mainland authorities refused to take them back due to the city’s fifth wave of Covid-19 infection. The containers used to be taken back across the border for reuse but concerns were raised over elevated risks of contracting the virus from the containers.
