Day seven of Dhul Hijjah. The Day of Arafah is two days away. The scholars made a beautiful observation about the Islamic calendar: the ten days of Dhul Hijjah are the greatest days of the year for acts of worship, while the last ten nights of Ramadan are the greatest nights. Allah gave us two elevated windows. One for the day. One for the night. You are inside one of them right now, in its final hours. Call on Him by any of His names. With any of your needs. He is closer to you in these days than you may realize.

Cover Your Inner Faults
If you had a scar or defect on your body, you would rush to cover it. You wouldn’t walk around showing it off.
So what about the sins of the heart? They are uglier than any physical defect. They deserve even more to be hidden, between you and Allah.
Don’t expose your sins. Don’t boast about them online or in front of others. Instead, cover them, repent sincerely, and seek Allah’s forgiveness.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
كل أمتي معافى إلا المجاهرين
“All of my nation will be forgiven, except those who openly expose their sins.” (Bukhari & Muslim)
Just as you look in the mirror and fix what people can see, look into your heart and fix what only Allah sees. That’s the covering that will save you on the Day of Judgment.

The Virtue of Seeking Forgiveness
Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“Seeking forgiveness is among the greatest of good deeds, and its door is واسع (wide open). Whoever feels shortcomings in his speech, actions, state, provision, or fluctuations of the heart should hold fast to Tawḥīd and seeking forgiveness, for in them is the cure—if done with sincerity and truthfulness.
Likewise, if a servant finds shortcomings in fulfilling the rights of relatives, family, children, neighbors, and brothers, then he should turn to supplication and seeking forgiveness.”
