Taavi Madiberk, and Siim-Erik Alamaa had a great discussion with Neeme Raud on Europe’s industrial future, AI infrastructure, and why energy is now the real bottleneck to scale.

Our message is clear: Mission-critical energy and resilient local value chains are no longer optional.

Following the opening of Skeleton’s SuperBattery factory in Varkaus, Finland, we are now moving from ribbon-cutting to delivery. The €50 million facility is Europe’s first site dedicated to high-power batteries for AI data centres and will provide up to 1 gigawatt of backup power each year for AI, grid stability, mobility, and defence.

Our investment in Varkaus is supported by the EU’s Just Transition Fund through the North Savo ELY Centre, helping to revive a historic battery site, create high-quality jobs, and strengthen Europe’s energy resilience and technological sovereignty.

Our mission, since 2009, has been to create energy storage solutions that support critical infrastructure and industrial operations, ensuring reliability today and enabling a sustainable tomorrow. Today, 16 years later, we are the world’s largest manufacturer of supercapacitors for infrastructure and industry – and a critical power source for the functions of society that cannot stop.

The past year has further strengthened our position at the heart of the mission-critical energy transition:

⚡ Production at our Leipzig Superfactory has started – the world’s largest and most advanced supercapacitor factory.

⚡ With the launch of GrapheneGPU, we are addressing one of the most pressing challenges for AI data centers: how to scale computing power without compromising energy efficiency or reliability. Our promise is to power AI’s exponential growth.

⚡ The Varkaus SuperBattery plant in Finland secured €7 million in business grant giving additional momentum to the development and growth of our technology.

⚡ The Best of Technology in Production award (Handelsblatt & WirtschaftsWoche) recognized the pioneering nature of our production.

⚡ TIME and Statista ranked Skeleton among the world’s Top 30 GreenTech companies in 2025.

Behind these achievements is one clear mission: to be the power source on which critical infrastructure and industry can rely.

Sixteen years have proven that our technology is not just an innovation, but a necessity. And even as the world around us grows more challenging, we are ready to push boundaries and drive forward solutions that save energy, reduce emissions, and safeguard a functioning society.

Thank you to our Skeleton team of 300+ talented energy storage professionals, and to our customers, partners, and investors, for your dedication and support in advancing our mission.

€7M boost for Skeleton! ⚡ ⚡ ⚡

Our Varkaus SuperBattery plant is scaling up to meet demand and power Finland’s 🇫🇮 clean energy future.

This year, the North Savo ELY Centre distributed over €42 million for business and rural development. The largest single sum, nearly €7 million, was awarded to Skeleton Technologies for its SuperBattery production in Varkaus. The Varkaus factory is rapidly becoming a significant employer in the region. Official SuperBattery production began last year, following a period of testing, development, and pilot production.

Skeleton's CEO Taavi Madiberk said: "We are investing to ramp-up our manufacturing capacity in Finland. Finland is an excellent addition for rapid prototyping and expanding our piloting capabilities significantly. It will support our existing manufacturing sites and will allow us to initiate the pilot production of our next generation products."
