Suure rõõmuga teatame, et Telliskivi Loomelinnaku ja Selektor Studio poolt tänavuse Tallinn Music Weeki artistidele suunatud stuudioauhinna konkursi võitis shoegaze’i bänd mariin k..

Auhinnana ootab artisti ees kuni nelja muusikapala salvestamine, miksimine ja masterdamine Selektor Studios koos produtsendi ja salvestusinseneri Martin Laksbergiga.

„Oleme siiralt tänulikud selle võidu ja võimaluse eest, loodame salvestada uut muusikat veidi teistsuguse lähenemisega ja usume, et Martin Laksbergi toob sellesse värsket vibe'i”, rõõmustab Mariin. Ta selgitab, et kui senistel üllitistel on instrumente salvestatud eraldi, siis seekord on sihiks salvestada kogu bändi korraga, lisades: „Oleme kaks aastat koos tegutsenud ja tervikuna salvestamine oleks nagu fotojäädvustus bändist just selles hetkes. Samuti usun, et niimoodi töötades pääseb paremini esile ehedus, mida saab kogeda meie esinemistel.”

✨Nii tänavune võitja mariin k. kui ka eelmine auhinnatu La Fazani esinevad septembris festivalil Station Narva. Mariin Kallikorm mängib samal festivalil ka Briti trip-hop’i legendi Tricky bändis.

We are delighted to announce that estonian shoegaze band mariin k. has won the studio award competition by Telliskivi Creative City and Selektor Studio in collaboration with Tallinn Music Week.

The award includes recording, mixing and mastering 3-4 musical pieces at Selektor Studio with producer and recording engineer Martin Laksberg.

"We are genuinely grateful for this win and this opportunity — we're hoping to record new music with a slightly different approach and we believe Martin Laksberg will bring a fresh vibe," says Mariin. She explains that whereas on previous releases instruments have been recorded separately, this time the aim is to record the whole band live together. "We've been playing together for two years now, and recording as a whole would be like a photograph of the band at exactly this moment. I also believe that working this way will preserve more of the raw energy of our live performances," she adds.

✨Both mariin k. and last year’s winner La Fazani will perform at the Station Narva festival in September. Mariin Kallikorm will also perform at the same event as a guitarist in the British trip-hop legend Tricky’s band.

The second edition of Hooked on Estonia festival made its home at Rosendals Trädgård in Stockholm’s Royal Djurgården on Saturday 23 May, for a day of Estonian music, food and design. Organised by Visit Estonia, with Tallinn Music Week and Music Estonia among its partners, the festival is establishing itself as one of the most distinctive showcases of Estonian culture in the Nordic region. TMW curated the Hooked on Estonia live stage, presenting The ROCKET, Anna Kaneelina, Erki Pärnoja and Duo Ruut.

Ragnar Berthling, Director of Musikcentrum Öst/Sweden, who introduced the TMW stage, noted that the bonds between the two countries’ music communities have never been stronger: “Musikcentrum Öst has a long line of fruitful collaborations with the vibrant music communities of Estonia — from the gender equity project Keychange, where both TMW and MCÖ are founding partners, to a long range of musical collaborations between Swedish and Estonian artists. The Estonian scene is more vibrant than ever and it was a true pleasure to host the music programme at Hooked on Estonia. The bonds between the countries are strong and I really hope to see growing opportunities in the coming years.”

Agnia Nast, Head of Visit Estonia, underlined the power of music as a tool for inspiring travel and cultural curiosity: “One of the most powerful things about music is its ability to spark curiosity in a natural way. By bringing Estonian artists into the festival experience we created an atmosphere that felt creative, emotional and authentic — qualities that reflect Estonia very well today. As travellers increasingly seek meaningful experiences and cultural connections, music is one of the strongest ways to inspire people to connect with a place and discover more of what it has to offer.”

5.–6. juunil toimub esimest korda kahepäevane muusika- ja kogukonnasündmus Paavli Festival, mis täidab Paavli Kultuurivabriku saalid, aia ja tantsupõrandad kontsertide, klubiprogrammi ning kogukondlike ettevõtmistega.
Festival on välja kasvanud Paavli kultuurivabriku sünnipäevapeost, mille ümber on aastate jooksul kujunenud terve kultuuriline omailm.

Kahe päeva jooksul jõuab festivali kolmele lavale lai valik artiste Eesti alternatiivskeene eri servadest, kelle seas maailma veidraimaks bändiks tituleeritud Winny Puhh, vürtsika kväärpopi sensatsioon White Girl , peotümaka duo Noored ja Näljased, üle aastate lavale naasev dreampop-grupp Zebra Island, indie rocki raudvara Ans. Andur, elektroonikavõlur Mihkel Kuusk, Yasmyni ja Maris Pihlapi uus koostööprojekt Flight Mode ning paljud teised teised.

Muusikaprogrammi kõrval leiab aset ka hulk kogukondlikke ettevõtmisi: Jauru- ja Tantsupeo eestvedamisel toimub simman, Uperkuut seab üles vinüülilaada ning festivalialal on kohal ka lühifilmifestivali Valga Hot Shorts esindus ja kirjandusõhtu K6vn.
