Cerro Pondoña is the largest and highest lava dome inside the Pululahua caldera in Ecuador’s Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve, near Quito.
It rises to about 2975m and offers excellent panoramic views over the inhabited crater floor, surrounding farms and the broader Andean landscape.
Formed after the main caldera collapse roughly 2,500 years ago, it is a popular, moderately challenging hiking destination with trails leading to its slopes or high viewpoints. The area features unique volcanic scenery and a misty microclimate.
