Necesario para imponer la ley. Ojal llegue a introducirse en Ecuador algún día!!!!

IF YOU SEE THIS, IT’S TOO LATE

No, that’s not a futuristic laser weapon the California Highway Patrol is using. This is a LIDAR device used for measuring speed and if you see an officer holding one, it’s too late for you to try to slow down.

LIDAR is just another one of our tools we use to help provide the highest level of safety, service, and security. The emphasis being on Safety! Since excessive speed is a major cause of accidents, enforcement of speed laws plays a crucial role in reducing the number of traffic collisions.

An officer uses a LIDAR device to confirm what he already knows, you’re going too fast. When an officer is conducting speed enforcement, the first thing they will do is visually estimate the speed of the violator’s vehicle. After visually estimating the vehicle speed, the officer will use the LIDAR device to confirm his visual estimation. The officer’s visual estimation is typically within five miles per hour of the LIDAR reading. Once the trigger is pulled on the LIDAR, the officer is given a speed and a distance at which the speed was measured. For those of you using RADAR detectors, unlike radar, which you can detect miles before we know you're coming, the LIDAR signal is only sent out for a fraction of a second on the pull of the trigger. If you were speeding when you were targeted and provided an alert, there's no chance of adjusting your speed. You're caught!
