Let’s talk about Beirut, don’t let the world go quiet on it. Let’s wake up to the notion that we are one. Our energies united, a collective consciousness for the best, is the difference the world so desperately needs. Lebanon has endured years of political unrest, financial crisis, car bombs, civil wars… but this was something else, not your usual evil. The video of this explosion will replay on thousands if not millions of minds… over and over again. The sound might deafen prayers, its image will filter the eyes of a youth that should have been promised better. Hearts will have to mend with tears that should have never been shed. This should not have happened. To be outspoken, to voice mutual concern, will only rebuild the world as a safer and more caring home; a sanctuary not a war zone. This affects us all, languages and miles away, our well-being, forms of expression, culture, history, freedom and rights should not be blown away in seconds. Our world politics should be kindness, our race should be human. No matter the nationality, Earth is our home.

Alexandra Najjar, only 3 years old, sitting in her father’s shoulders, he will never be able to behold her again. A heavenly angel, now the face of this man- made tragedy. Beirut explosions, 2,750 tones of ammonium nitrate shattered the lives and loved ones of many. 2,750 tones of ammonium nitrate that didn’t just break windows and walls, but broke hearts and life-long dreams.
