Orion Academy's new Environmental Club led a Beach Clean Up in collaboration with the Dominica Youth Environment Organization and students from the Dominica State College. This Beach Clean-Up behind "the Cove" in Canefield also involved data collection and was part of an Island-wide Beach Clean-up supported by Dominica's Youth Division on October 12, 2019.

People are raving about the film, "UNCIVILIZED" by Michael Lees, with Norris Francois as a key creative on the team. Both young men are Orion Academy graduates. We at Orion are so proud of them, to have created this powerful film, now touring across the Caribbean and beyond. It's showing in Dominica, just until Tuesday, Sept. 24th. Don't miss it!!

Plot line:
Michael Lees sets off on a search for a life lost to the past. Feeling trapped by the modern world and harbouring a belief that the natural life was more balanced than the modern, Michael heads into the forest of Dominica with just some basic survival gear, religious texts and a camera.

Between fishing, building shelter, filming and meditating, he searches for answers. “Why did man ever leave the forest? And what makes for a good life?” Just as he starts digging deeper, the unexpected arrives: Category 5 Hurricane Maria.

With everything destroyed and the entire island sent back to “the simple life,” Michael's project takes on new meaning.
