This week we are going to focus on Health skills from the recently launched skills book entitled GROW Smart, "Skills for great kids".
Chapter 1 , topic #1.
Eating healthy foods
The first topic in this chapter focuses on the fact that without eating foods from the different foods groups there is no way that one can be healthy. The foods groups are
Vegetables - lettuce, tomatoes
Fruits - cherries, apple
Meat and fish - chicken, beef, salmon
Carbohydrates - bread, bakes
Fats and oils - butter, oil
Legumes - beans, peas
Eating foods from the food groups noted above and in moderate amounts can assist in living a healthy lifestyle.
Foods are of different colors and the colors on the plate could determine how healthy your meal is. For example a plate filled with chicken and chips are all brown. Add tomatoes, fresh vegetables, chicken, chips, tomatoes creates a more balanced meal.
If parents teach children to prepare healthy meals at a young ager, they will eventually grow to feed themselves properly.
