“At once/at the same time searching and confident, ….Pernille Bévort is now at the peak of her career….”
- AllThat – Cim Meyer 25. januar 2026

"There is no doubt in my mind that Pernille Bévort is one of Denmark's best tenor saxophonists....
The original music on A Cup of Joe is a melodically strong, hard-swinging form of modern jazz that offers both refined ensemble playing and sublime solos."
- Ivan Rod 23. Januar 2026

”This is a damn good jazzalbum.”
– Kary Persson, Jazzporten 10. Januar 2026

"Above all, Pernille Bévort lives up to her starring role with penetrating, inspired colorful tenor saxophone sounds. 'A Cup of Joe' by Pernille's Bévort 3 gives every right-minded jazz lover intense listening pleasure."
- Bernard Lefèvre, Jazz’Halo January 2026

“Bévort is convincing both as a composer and saxophonist, and the entire release is an excellent collection of ”pearls on a string."
- Jan Granlie, Salt Peanuts 19. Januar 2026

”For fans of jazz trio music, A Cup of Joe is essential listening. It demonstrates that the classic saxophone trio format, pioneered by Sonny Rollins and refined by Henderson and others, remains vital and relevant in capable hands. Bévort 3 proves that you can honour tradition while pushing forward, that you can be both deeply rooted and freely innovative.”
- Frankie Pfeiffer Editor in chief – PARIS-MOVE, 2. Feb. 2026

Montmartre skriver:

A great review of our new album from Jan Granlie.

In English:
"This is, quite simply, an excellent album in the tradition of the 1960s, but with the natural “renewals” one might expect. Bévort is convincing both as a composer and saxophonist, and the entire release is an excellent collection of “pearls on a string.”

On Friday January 23rd my next album releases.
It’s actually my 17th album as band leader, composer and saxophonist.
Pre-save link in comments.

Bévort 3 – A Cup of Joe
Pernille Bévort: saxophone/composition
Morten Ankarfeldt: Bass
Espen Laub von Lillienskjold: trommer

Recorded by Thomas Vang, The Village, mix Louise Nipper and the trio, Mastering David Elberling.
Live videos: Jonas Lyngdam
Coverart and artistic videos by Niklas Antonson, Notation.

This album is released with support from Danish Conductors Association, Koda's Cultural Funds and Danish Arts Foundation (and for that I’m grateful).

In connection with the release, two prominent jazz connoisseurs have shared their brief thoughts on the album:

"This music is so well played that it gives surprises the whole way through. I listened to the entire repertoire nonstop and was with the flow all the way. Pernille has control over her art form. She knows where she is and where she is headed. That is how I hear Joe Henderson’s work. She has really made an album in which I can hear Joe, but through her own personal aesthetic. Make no mistake - this is a real band, a working unit. And this new recording highlights the unity they have.”
- Saxophonist Bob Rockwell (previously Thad Jones/Mel Lewis etc.)

"Pernille Bévort displays all her customary rhythmic verve and melodic invention on a stirring homage to Joe Henderson that swings hard and simmers beautifully."
- Ian Patterson, All About Jazz.

The album has already received a couple of positive reviews (links in comments):
