Lars Wedel

My collection entitled Nordic Kabuki is a combination of Nordic elegance, minimalism and beauty, mixed with the traditional Japanese art form of Kabuki theatre, dating back since the 17th century. Kabuki can be interpreted as "avant-garde" or "bizarre" theatre, shown through dance, dramatisation and reflecting Japanese mythology and history.

My goal was to create a collection that could tell the story of Kabuki and make people want to learn about this grand art form, turning traditional Kabuki costumes, prints, materials and colours into 21st century fashion.
