On Friday 17 February, the Embassy of Malta welcomed a group of students from Trier University who will be ‘representing Malta’ at the New York Model United Nations ( ) meeting in 2023. The NMUN is the world’s largest and oldest ongoing intercollegiate Model , where thousands of college and university students gather to discuss current global issues in a real world context.

During the event, Deputy Head of Mission Mark Abela discussed 's priorities as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council as well as its current presidency of the , among other topics of interest. Mr. Abela also highlighted the importance of engagement in politics as a vital step towards a more inclusive and representative political system. The voices and perspectives of young people are critical in shaping a better future for all.

In this context, the Embassy of Malta wishes the students the best of luck in their preparations for this excellent experience.
