Purpose: Ratha Yatra

It starts at 12 o’clock – at Burgplatz in Leipzig!

🥳 Hooray, this Saturday it’s finally happening! We celebrate the Ratha Yatra and accompany Jagannatha, the Lord of the Universe, together with His siblings Baladeva and Subhadra, with music and dance through the streets of Leipzig. The colorful chariot procession starts at 12 pm at Burgplatz. Afterwards, from 3 pm, the festival program will take place there with kirtan-yoga, dance, information booths, henna painting, children’s tent, vegetarian food, and much more.

In just a few days, we will celebrate Ratha-Yatra together with our friends in Leipzig – and the excitement is building! Preparations are in full swing, and we want to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us with their donations so far.

Ratha-Yatra is one of the oldest and largest religious festivals in the world. For over 2,000 years, it has drawn millions of people to Jagannath Puri in India. In 1967, it was celebrated outside India for the first time – today it takes place in major cities worldwide.

In Jagannath Puri, the festival brings together people from all social, cultural, and religious backgrounds. In Leipzig, too, Ratha-Yatra invites everyone to connect across cultures, discover common ground, and break down prejudices – a living example of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
