Not all roses bloom the same way! Here are the terms we use at Lakeview:

• Continuous (Ever-Blooming): Flowers in repeated flushes from early summer until dormancy.
• Repeat-Blooming (Remontant): Several bloom cycles each season, with the first usually being the biggest.
• Once-Blooming (Single Flush): One spectacular display per year, often prized for exceptional fragrance and character.

Knowing a rose's bloom cycle helps you choose the perfect fit for your garden. If you'd like more information on how we use these terms, please visit our website: https://lakeviewroses.com/blogs/resources/rose-terms-continuous-blooming-vs-repeat-blooming

Strawberry festival season is here, and we're celebrating with a fresh batch of berries grown right at home in our own backyard. Sweet, juicy, and bursting with flavour, these berries are a true labor of love. Our Strawberry Hill® roses are also starting to bloom, pairing perfectly with the season's bounty and adding a splash of colour and the fragrance of myrrh and honey to the celebration.

Introducing our Bloom Debut series! Join us as we begin to release some of our much anticipated Fall 2026 lineup. Our first rose of this series is Bliss Parfuma®, which will be available to add to your cart once the shop opens again in the fall.

Bliss Parfuma® unfolds from pastel pink teardrop buds into large, very double blooms in large clusters. The cupped rosettes reveal clear and vibrant pastel pink petals with a creamy centre. These are long lasting blooms, very fragrant with a sweet floral scent layered with fruity notes of pear, apple, and a hint of vanilla, this floribunda offers exceptional aromatic pleasure as the luminous pastel blooms develop their cupped rosette form throughout the season.

Roses benefit from regular feeding starting in spring and after each bloom cycle. You have plenty of options, both organic and inorganic, each with different strengths.

Many gardeners blend organic and inorganic methods, layer in compost alongside a slow-release fertilizer, or adjust their routine from season to season as they learn what their roses respond to best. What matters most is simply that you are paying attention, noticing what your garden needs, understanding why you are reaching for the products you choose, and finding joy in the process of nurturing something alive and growing. Any path that is thoughtful and attentive can lead to happy, healthy roses.

While thorns can be a challenge for gardeners, they’re also part of what makes each variety unique. Do you have a favourite thorny rose that’s worth the ‘ouch factor’?

Surprise! The roses are in, along with some shrubs and grasses!
We currently have 11 different rose varieties planted in the garden. Do you have any guesses as to which ones made the cut?
The roses got a light prune last week, so we’re still waiting a little longer for that first big flush of blooms. In the meantime, we’re counting down to the flagstone path installation next week, which should really bring the whole space together.
A few salvias, catmint, and phlox are still on the wish list... although we may already be running out of room! And this fall, I’m hoping to tuck in some allium bulbs for an extra splash of spring color.

Not every garden enjoys full sun, but that's no reason to miss out on the beauty of climbing roses. Shade-tolerant varieties can transform north-facing walls, pergolas, and sheltered fences into stunning displays. Some of our favourites include the soft pink James Galway®, the sweetly fragrant The Generous Gardener®, the rich apricot Crown Princess Margareta®, and the cheerful yellow Golden Showers, all reliable performers in lower light conditions.

We would love to hear some of your favourite shade tolerant climbers!
