RECAP DOMICIL – DORTMUND
The 2026 festival drew to a close with a packed house and a great atmosphere at Dortmund’s domicil.
We kicked off the evening with Merche Blasco’s “FAUNA”: household gadgets and homemade instruments expanded our understanding of sound amidst strobe lights and earth-shaking bass. Playful scratchy sounds, snippets of vocals and magical little light bulbs made the performance visually and aurally engaging. Fun fact: Merche gives all her homemade instruments cute little names.
After 30 years of friendship, Georg Gräwe and Thomas Lehn celebrated their duet debut at BLAUES RAUSCHEN. Structured and improvised, active impulses triggered automatic responses: in “Key Commands”, a live grand piano and synthesiser merged into a transcendent exchange. This created a chaotic interplay of impulses that formed into new motifs. Amidst the noise, chaos and silence, the bond between the two was particularly evident.
Robert Lippok brought the festival to a close with “Material”. Starting with cymbals, rods and the crackling of an amplifier, a tense, rustling atmosphere emerged that made the room crackle with energy. Enter electronic sounds! Layer upon layer, the sound built ever higher, only to ground itself in the end with a return to the raw material.
What´s next? On June 21 at 8 p.m., a first selection of concerts of BLAUES RAUSCHEN 2026 will be broadcast on WDR 3 radio. You can expect a three-hour program with performances and interviews, presented by Ilka Geyer.

RECAP MAKROSCOPE - MÜLHEIM AN DER RUHR
A new day, a new evening of sound and vision. Regardless of the weather, the Makroscope was packed to the brim.
Steffi Weissmann kicked off the exciting evening with “Generation S”. In the microcosm she created, she explored a child’s perspective on life’s big questions through a blend of microsounds, balloons and live microscopy.
Voice x Violin: In “Introducing Pony~”, Lisa Zwinzscher (aka Pony Pracht) and Neasa Ní Bhriain challenged the ownership of their own voices. Chasing and imitating one another amidst playful and heavenly soft sounds creating an intimate atmosphere.
Towards the end of the Night, Dana Schechter x Monocube premiered “Blue Ocean/Black Sea” and explored the beauty of nature, regardless of home. With videography of the ocean and a haunting, rumbling depth, we were left with a sense of longing for connection.
An evening marked by sweat, collaboration and empathy.

PODCAST EPISODE 35: Shaping Perception through Interplay
In Podcast Episode 35, Aneta Nousheri talks with Merche Blasco and Farzané about two performances at festival Blaues Rauschen 2026 that expand our understanding of perception: FAUNA and LIVE HUMAN-COMPUTER IMPROVISATION.
Merche Blasco and Farzané are both multimedia artists, but they arrived there through different paths. Merche Blasco’s background in engineering and music has shaped her approach to sound as something physical and open-ended. Farzané began with classical music and film before moving towards technology, driven by a curiosity about how sound can continuously evolve. What connects them is a shared interest in performance as a space where sound, body, and technology meet through improvisation.
