Manmade Mastering

As the story goes, back in 1999 my dear friend Daniel Thompson began crafting a lush electronic album from his flat in Chicago, weaving together the diverse influences of that era. What emerged was Winterlight,....a work rich in atmosphere, shaped by analogue mixing, the unmistakable tones of the SE-1 and early Nord Lead, and meticulously sculpted samples from the legendary Kurzweil sampler.

Yet, as so often happens, the project was set aside. Years slipped into decades, and the recordings were quietly buried, forgotten for reasons lost to time.

Recently, I unearthed Daniel’s original masters, on disc and DAT, and after more than 25 years, we’ve decided the moment has finally come to share Winterlight with the world.

We begin with Winterlight :: Body EP, Part One, released through Word & Sound distribution. Three further chapters will follow. Enjoy
