Andrius Blaževičius is Lithuanian. He won the Directing Award for World Cinema Dramatic at Sundance 2026 for How to Divorce During the War. Lithuania has 2.8 million people. It borders Russia. It borders Belarus. Filmmakers there are making art while watching their neighbors live through actual war. That context is in every frame. A film about personal crisis inside geopolitical catastrophe. Co-produced by Lithuania, Luxembourg, Ireland, and Czech Republic.

The Sundance World Cinema directing prize has previously gone to Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, who went on to win an Oscar. Blaževičius won the directing prize. Not a jury mention. The prize.
