Children should never pay the price of conflict.

A recent UN Commission of Inquiry report documents grave violations against Palestinian children since 7 October 2023, when the war in began after Hamas carried out a terrorist attack on Israel, and calls for urgent accountability.

According to the report:
• Children accounted for 30% of those killed and 26% of those injured in Gaza between 7 October 2023 and 7 October 2025.
• By October 2025, 20,179 children—around 2% of Gaza's child population—had been killed, including 1,029 infants under one year of age and 420 newborns.
• 44,143 children were injured. Gaza now has the highest concentration of child amputees in the world.
• Since October 2023, 21,000 children have been newly disabled.
• Even after the October 2025 ceasefire, children continue to be killed and seriously injured.
It is almost certain that the true toll is even higher than the reported figures.

Every child deserves safety, dignity, healthcare, education, and the chance to grow up in peace. The world must act to protect Palestinian children, ensure accountability, and uphold international law.

Across the Barotse Floodplain, forests and rangelands support daily life. They contribute to agriculture, livestock, fisheries, and provide essential resources such as food, fuel, and traditional medicine.

🪾However, these ecosystems are coming under increasing pressure, so we need dedicated honorary forest officers more than ever.
