Transforming Metro Českomoravská

Lasvit Art Director Maxim Velčovský, together with Edit Architects, reimagined Prague's Českomoravská metro station through a simple yet powerful idea: enclosing the fundamental element of the underground – air.

"The concept of the station is air as an essential condition of movement underground. We chose to enclose it between layers of hand-crafted fused glass, where it transforms into a system of bubbles that define the character and structure of the space,” explains Velčovský.

What remains invisible is given form. Air is captured and held in place, translated into a surface that shapes how the station is experienced. An antidote to the constant motion of the underground, the air within the glass remains still.

Handmade at our Ajeto glassworks, each piece is cast from glass and shaped with the imprint of a real cross-country ski track – turning a fleeting moment on snow into a lasting symbol of endurance, place, and pride.
