⚠️ MICROBURST ON FINAL APPROACH ⚠️✈️
One of the most dangerous weather phenomena in aviation.
The scary part?
At first, it actually feels helpful.
➡️ The aircraft suddenly encounters a strong headwind
➡️ IAS increases
➡️ Lift increases
➡️ The aircraft rises above the glide slope
But seconds later comes the real danger:
⬇️ Severe downdraft
⬇️ Rapid loss of airspeed
⬇️ Tailwind shear
⬇️ High sink rate close to the ground
A microburst can quickly turn a stable approach into an unrecoverable situation if not recognised immediately.
That’s why windshear escape procedures are critical knowledge for every pilot. 🌩️

⚠️ “PULL UP! TERRAIN!”
Those famous cockpit warnings exist because pilots once had almost no protection against CFIT accidents — situations where a fully functioning aircraft was unintentionally flown into terrain.
GPWS (Ground Proximity Warning System) changed aviation safety forever ✈️
Using inputs from:
• Radio altitude
• Vertical speed
• Airspeed
• Aircraft configuration
• Glide slope deviation
…the system continuously checks whether the aircraft is getting dangerously close to the ground.
And when needed, it TALKS to the crew.
🔸 SINKRATE
🔸 PULL UP
🔸 DON’T SINK
🔸 TOO LOW GEAR
🔸 GLIDESLOPE
🔸 BANK ANGLE
