The state of freedom of press in Eastern Europe is somehow disturbing. The Czech Republic´s finance minister, billionaire Andrej Babiš owns a media empire, and some say he has succeeded in neutralizing the media in the country, writes Politico.eu. “'I did not want to work for an oligarch or an active politician,' said Michal Musil, a former deputy editor-in-chief at MF Dnes (daily), who resigned shortly after the (Babiš) Agrofert takeover. A British expat living in the Czech Republic writes a personal note on the refugee debate. "As a foreigner and a migrant with such a positive experience here I now watch in disbelief at the stance the country is taking to the ongoing refugee crisis... The migration debate in the UK may be equally depressing, but Czechs are more connected and more obviously benefit from EU membership than Brits do."
