CosmoBrigade – Hollow Obsessions ( Digital Album – Alice In… / Dark Dimensions Label Group)

Cosmobrigade is a Czech band that debuted in 2023. After releasing a previous EP and making several notable appearances on compilations, the quartet is now launching its 12-song debut album.
I'm truly blown away by this work, which perfectly blends Dark-Wave and Cold-Wave with some Shoegaze elements sprinkled throughout. They’ve achieved a brilliant balance between guitar and synths, creating a rich atmosphere and memorable melodies on one hand, while delivering power and intensity on the other. The choruses really explode, partly thanks to the passionate vocals. To me, Cosmobrigade sounds like an imaginary fusion of The Neon Judgement and Killing Joke. You could say they’re not necessarily breaking new ground, but they definitely sound different from most bands out there. Some of the songs are a bit short for my taste, but almost every single one is a musical gem worth savoring.
This band clearly has something special that goes far beyond just ‘potential’ or ‘great promise’. “Hollow Obsessions” is a brilliant album that you really should discover. (Rating: 8½).
