Back in the 90s, we came up with the alias Jark Prongo as a kind of response to the success of The Good Men’s and Fresh Fruit Records’ uplifting sound. We imagined Jark Prongo as a character, someone creating music with a deeper, tougher, or just weirder sound. Even now, we’ll sometimes say, “Let’s Jark,” and instantly know what the other means.
We don’t remember exactly when or how, but someone gave us a 1978 Korg MS-20 semi-modular synthesizer, and for years, it just sat in our studio unused, because we had no idea what to do with it. One day, staring at all those jack inputs on the Korg, we decided to plug in a few patch cables. Then we had a brilliant idea: to connect our TR-909 drum machine to the MS-20’s audio input. Suddenly, the synth was making all kinds of wobbly noises, reacting to the 909’s kick and hi-hat. We looked at each other like, “Holy sh*t!” A happy accident turned into what’s now known as Movin’ Thru Your System.
We released it on our label Pssst Music in 1998, and soon after, Hooj Choons picked it up, with remixes by Dave Clarke and Slacker.
And now, today sees the release of a banging remix by . It’s super heavy and in-your-face. We think it’s amazing and absolutely does justice to the original. Hopefully, you’ll love it as much as we do!
