Be Different

Promises God Never Made

•God never promised that you would always be happy.
He promised to be with you, even when you are in tears.
(Psalm 34:19)

•He never promised that all your dreams would come true.
He teaches us to pray:
“Your will be done.”
(Matthew 6:10)

•God never promised that there would be no enemies.
But He gave this command: love them and pray for them.
(Matthew 5:44)

•God never promised that you would be successful.
But He showed that faithfulness is valued above success.
(Matthew 25:21)

•He never promised that you would avoid loss.
But He promised: “As one whom his mother comforts, so will I comfort you.”
(Isaiah 66:13)

•He never promised that life would be fair.
But He said: “Vengeance is Mine; I will repay.”
(Romans 12:19)

•God never promised that you would understand everything.
But He gave this assurance:
“My ways are higher than your ways.”
(Isaiah 55:9)

God did not promise comfort.
He promised His presence.
