Cyprus Dialogue Forum

The Labour Market Task Group recently met with former negotiators Mr. Andreas Mavroyiannis and Mr. Özdil Nami to take stock of issues discussed during the last negotiation cycle related to the economy and labour market.
The Task Group comprising social, economic and political stakeholder organisations from both communities, has been working collaboratively for many years to build shared understanding on labour market issues across the island.
This long-standing cooperation has led to two important outcomes: the development of a Common Understanding Document and the creation of an All-Island Labour Market Database libguides.cydialogue.org/labour, which compiles and presents the latest labour market data across the island.
The meeting provided the opportunity to reflect on past convergences, including the roles played by the EU Ad-Hoc Working Group and the Economy Working Group during the negotiations. It further provided the opportunity to exchange perspectives on the role and contribution of the Task Group to the formal process and highlighted the importance of dialogue and cooperation in building resilience.

Engaged in meaningful sessions with university students on the importance of collaborative spaces that foster inclusive and constructive dialogue—spaces that spark new ideas, deepen understanding, and help us build knowledge together. Students showed strong interest in the Political Guide and the Labour Market Guide, recognising them as valuable shared knowledge resources.

Because ownership matters.
Agreements imposed from outside rarely endure.
People support what they help create.
Lasting peace is built by those who live it.
Dialogue must belong to its participants.
