Batteries live in an extremely harsh environment. Seasonal use and stop/start operation such as Cycle Sentry result in too little engine run-time to complete a charging cycle. Temperature extremes and demanding applications such as sea-going containers can take their toll on battery health.

Batteries become discharged for many reasons. Auxiliary systems such as telematics, sensors and tail-lifts may lead to a unit battery frequently being drained. They soon reach a point where they have been fully discharged so often that they become un-rechargeable, leading to expensive call-outs and jump-starts.
