Cyprus launches € 350 million Vasiliko Port expansion tender 10/06/2026

The Cyprus Ports Authority has launched a tender for consulting services for the planned € 350 million expansion of Vasiliko Port. The tender covers front-end engineering design, detailed design and supervision of the first construction phase.

The expansion will include nine new berths, new breakwaters, a deepened access channel, and upgraded land infrastructure around the port. Once completed, Vasiliko is expected to handle approximately 1,770 ships per year.

Cyprus has moved closer to becoming a natural gas producer after approving the development plan for the Kronos gas field in Block 6 of its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), offshore southwest of the island in the eastern Mediterranean.

The Kronos field was discovered in 2022 and is estimated to contain around 3.4 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of natural gas, making it one of the country’s most significant offshore discoveries. After several years of exploration, appraisal drilling and negotiations, Cyprus now aims to begin commercial gas exports in 2028.
