Instructions on how to make your food business work online and set up delivery

Due to the law of the Cypriot authorities until 30.04, all public catering establishments in Cyprus can serve their customers only for delivery.

You had to close. You lose hundreds of euro every day, and your employees are left without work and guaranteed income.

What to do? How to transfer your business to online work and earn income?

1. Define a set of dishes that you could cook and deliver. Prepare a list with descriptions and photos. Do not include complex dishes that need to be cooked for a long time. Ordering ready-made meals online suggests that the process of preparing, packaging and delivering the order to the door should take no more than an hour.

2. Get disposable tableware and packaging materials. Observe sanitary conditions, accuracy and freshness. If a customer gets rumpled or out of order, he will not contact you again. If someone recovers from your food, you run the risk of being fined.

3. Make your business page on Facebook and Instagram. Create an account - add the phone number to which you will answer when making a call, the URL of the site, if you have one, opening hours and city, the exact address of the establishment. In the information about the company write the terms of the order and delivery, and the minimum order value and the cost of delivery, if any.

4. Add a photo of each dish with a short description and value to the photo gallery or display case. Under each photo write a phone number to call to make an order.

5. Set up ads on Facebook and Instagram. Select the desired audience, geography and language. Use mouth-watering pictures or videos for advertising. Write in the text about the terms of payment and delivery.

6. Answer the phone and mail. Carefully write down what your client ask for and keep it. On-line attention is focused on the details. If the client asks you not to put mayonnaise or some kind of spice in the dish, mark this separately and check before sending.

7. Re-qualify your waiters as delivery men. They will receive tips for delivery, and you will not lose workers for the period of quarantine.

8. Maintain your customer base in CRM (customer management system). Then none of the orders will be lost, and you will save all the contacts and taste preferences of your customers. This will help you in the future to make these people personalized offers.
