We are excited to share our new case for GDCy - GameDev Cyprus FEST.

GDCy FEST is more than a conference, it’s the largest open-air gamedev event in Europe. Held on the coast of Cyprus, it brings together the industry through talks, networking, and a unique atmosphere that feels closer to a festival than a traditional business event.

Speakers and guests include teams from Helio Games, GEM Capital, vgames, Huqiao Games, Owlcat Games, Xsolla, Mellow, TechIsland®, Wargaming, Cyprus University of Technology, CYGMA Cyprus Game Makers Association and many others.

For GDCy FEST, we redesigned both the website and the mobile app, including registration flows, ticketing, scheduling, and participant networking features.

But the project evolved beyond product design. During the process, we developed an entirely new visual language for the festival, a scalable system the team now continues to use across their digital and communication materials.

This is what long-term creative partnership looks like.

Why is an armored taxi a normal thing in Brazil, and how do you design a product like that?

In the new episode of Dobar Dabar, we dive into how real-world context shapes design decisions in ways you can’t ignore.

Our guest is Dasha Prokuda, a design director in Rhino with international experience across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. She is working on a unique product in Brazil — an armored taxi service built around safety an local realities. This conversation explores how environment, risk, and culture directly influence product thinking.

We talked about how designing in Latin America is fundamentally different from user behavior to emotional perception of products, and why copying solutions from Europe or the US simply doesn’t work there.

In this episode:
— Designing for the Latin American market;
— Armored taxi as a product;
— UX and user behavior across different countries;
— The future of design and the role of AI.

This episode is for designers, marketers, and anyone aiming to work globally or grow beyond their local market.

Why should designers work on pet projects?

In our YouTube interview, Sasha Denisova, Senior Brand Designer at Red Antler, explains why pet projects are essential for designers.

Here’s why:
— They help you get hired
Sasha mentioned that showing her pet projects during interviews helped a lot. They demonstrated her initiative and curiosity.

—They show you still love what you do
If you keep creating outside of work, it’s usually a sign that the passion is still there.

—They give you creative freedom
Client work has limits. Personal projects let you experiment and explore ideas without constraints.

—They help you grow faster
Many top designers constantly create their own work — experiments, cultural projects, or even typefaces.

For Sasha, creating and selling her own fonts became one of those outlets.
Pet projects are a playground where designers can stay curious and bold.

Watch the full interview with Sasha on our YouTube channel to learn about her journey — from digital nomad life to becoming a designer in New York.
