Biodiversity Task Force WB

The future of the Balkan lynx depends on what range economies do together, not separately 🐾

That was one of the key messages from a side event held yesterday at convened by the Министерство за животна средина и ПП / Ministria e Mjedisit Jetësor dhe PH, and key international, regional and national partners. Focused on one of Europe’s most Critically Endangered large carnivores, the discussion highlighted the need for a stronger and more coordinated regional response to conserve the Balkan lynx and its habitats. The event also provided an opportunity to present the Regional Strategy for the Conservation of the Balkan Lynx and its Action Plan, proposed for endorsement under the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) COP15.

The message was clear: protecting the Balkan lynx requires stronger policy alignment, more effective institutions and enforcement, better monitoring, sustainable habitat governance, and long-term transboundary cooperation among range economies. The discussion also highlighted ongoing efforts under the Biodiversity Task Force WB.
