Happy from all of us at the Transport Community! ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

Every road, railway and waterway that people build and use is more than infrastructure. They are bridges between people, economies and futures ๐Ÿ’™

The Transport Community brings together the entire , six partners and three observing participants in a shared mission: to connect our continent not only by asphalt and rail, but also through common standards, shared values and a common European future.

Today, we celebrate what Europe stands for - the belief that when we move together, we go further โœจ

Connectivity is not only a technical goal. It is a political choice. And every day, we choose Europe. Every day, we are .

With EU support, we continue helping strengthen the foundations of a safer and more reliable system ๐Ÿš†

At today's workshop in Chiศ™inฤƒu, we focused on five practical documents prepared for Moldova's Railway Agency.

These documents will help the Agency prepare for its future responsibilities, including licensing railway undertakings, issuing safety certificates and authorisations, developing supervision plans and carrying out safety audits.

This is how we build strong procedures and the institutional capacity needed for a modern railway sector, supporting Moldova's alignment with EU standards and creating conditions for a gradually opened and better regulated railway market.

This week in Chiศ™inฤƒu, we organised a two-day training for colleagues from on how to make roads safer through better road checks, safety assessments and practical reporting ๐ŸŽฏ

This activity is particularly important for Moldova, as it is closely linked with priorities under the and Reform Agenda, especially in the area of connectivity and infrastructure.

Together, we looked at:
๐Ÿ”น how to identify dangerous points on roads
๐Ÿ”น how to check if new or existing roads are safe
๐Ÿ”น how to make roads around schools safer
๐Ÿ”น how to improve safety in tunnels
๐Ÿ”น how to prepare clear road safety reports
๐Ÿ”น how to train and certify road safety experts

This training is part of our EU-funded support to Moldova as they work to bring their transport systems closer to EU standards โœ…

Safer roads mean safer journeys for everyone: children going to school, families travelling, professional drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.

๐Ÿš๐Ÿ”‹ Some people call Paris the City of Light. That light gave us a clear picture of what the future of urban mobility can look like.

Together with the Deutsche Gesellschaft fรผr Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, we co-organised a study visit under the Clean Bus and Clean Fleet Platform, hosted by the รŽle-de-France Mobilitรฉs โœ…

The visit brought together representatives from across the , cities and international partners, including European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank/JASPERS, and GIZ, to learn from Paris' experience in deploying electric buses at scale.

Our focus was on:
๐Ÿ”น electric bus deployment in practice
๐Ÿ”น charging infrastructure and grid integration
๐Ÿ”น climate-resilient depots and operations
๐Ÿ”น financing solutions for cleaner urban transport

Participants also visited a bus operations centre to see how these systems work on the ground, from fleet management to infrastructure planning. These exchanges are helping our regional partners build the knowledge needed to prepare cleaner, smarter and more investment-ready urban transport projects ๐Ÿ™Œ

โœจ This is how we move from ambition to implementation under the and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.

Border crossings are where connectivity is tested in practice ๐Ÿ›‚

That is why we joined forces with the Central European Initiative - CEI and CEFTA - Central European Free Trade Agreement to organise a study visit on coordinated border control between and , focusing on the Albiศ›a-Leuศ™eni crossing point.

The visit brought together representatives of customs administrations, border police and transport ministries from the , Moldova and neighbouring EU Member States (Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary) to exchange knowledge and build their capacities.

This was also the first time that such an activity took place in Moldova in the framework of its role as an observing participant in the Transport Community.

During the visit, we focused on:
๐Ÿ”น showcasing how coordinated border control works between an EU Member State and a non-EU country
๐Ÿ”น exchanging practical experience relevant for the Western Balkans
๐Ÿ”น reflecting on the implementation of EU border management standards, including the impact of the Entry/Exit System (EES)
๐Ÿ”น strengthening cooperation on transport facilitation and smoother traffic flows

Taking place alongside CEFTA and Transport Community meetings in Chiศ™inฤƒu, the visit enhanced our practical cooperation and regional learning.

Supported by the CEI Romanian Presidency, it also stepped up cooperation between the CEI and the Transport Community on connectivity and transport facilitation.

Less waiting at borders. Better coordination. Stronger connectivity.
