Angel wings according to my template at work My Creative Hideout 😍

This Mannequin by Hearthsewn is one I have made before but I felt like doing it again - especially after I found those gorgeous Angel Wings by 3D studio Elephant : https://designbundles.net/3d-studio-elephant/2567766-3d-angel-wings-svg-template-memorial-layered-paper?ref=jUbr09
I used AC cardstock for most of the Mannequin and for the wings and added Graphic 45's patterned paper Steampunk Spells.
I inked all the edges with a light brown Distress Ink and added a few embellishments like cogs and gears and the "necklace" plus the bow on the Top Hat.
Mannequin, Cage Skirt and Top Hat are all from the Silhouette Design Store design ID's: 141314, 142259 and 67665.
This one is made in full size except the hat which I shrunk down to fit.

I think that many owners of cutting machines have made multi-layered paper pictures or at least paid attention to them. This post is more for beginners and those who haven't done it but want to try.

So, a few tips:

💫 Choice of design. First of all, pay attention to the number of layers. This is important, because with a small number of layers you will not get the depth that attracts so much in such pictures, and with too many layers you risk going broke on paper. The optimal number of layers is 6-10 depending on design.

💫 Choice of paper. A good choice would be thick, opaque paper that holds its shape well. When using thin paper, the layers may bend relative to each other and you will not get the desired result. I recommend at least 200 gsm paper, 250-300gsm is the best.

💫 Cutting. When using a quality cutting file, cutting should not be a problem. The only thing to keep in mind is that when removing the cut piece from the mat, you should fold the mat, not the piece itself (it must remain flat) to avoid deformation.

💫 Assembly. To connect the layers to each other, it is recommended to use double sided self-adhesive foam pads in order to add volume to the finished product. Please note that foam pads must first be glued to the overlying layer, and then connected to the underlying one. So the foam pads will not be visible.

💫 Framing of the finished work. Usually the finished work is framed in a deep frame (Shadow Box Frame). The presence of internal depth in such a frame allows you to place a picture with any number of layers, and the outer sheet of acrylic or glass helps to isolate dust, which will simplify the care of your shadow box. In my opinion, square and rectangular designs are a must for framing, while other shaped layered papercuts can look great without a frame.
