El Leopardus pardalis, conocido en Costa Rica como manigordo, es uno de los seis felinos silvestres que habitan en nuestro país 🇨🇷

El ocelote es un cazador nocturno y solitario, que se alimenta principalmente de pequeños mamíferos, aves y reptiles, ayudando a regular sus poblaciones y manteniendo la salud del bosque. Sin embargo, enfrenta amenazas como la pérdida y fragmentación de su hábitat, la cacería ilegal, mascotismo y los atropellos en carreteras.

Hoy hacemos un llamado a proteger sus hábitats, apoyar iniciativas de conservación y promover la convivencia responsable con la vida silvestre. 🌿

The Leopardus pardalis, known in Costa Rica as manigordo, is one of the six wild feline species that inhabit our country 🇨🇷

The ocelot is a solitary, nocturnal hunter that feeds mainly on small mammals, birds, and reptiles, helping regulate their populations and maintain forest health. However, it faces threats such as habitat loss and fragmentation, illegal hunting, the illegal pet trade, and road collisions.

Today, we call for the protection of its habitats, support for conservation initiatives, and the promotion of responsible coexistence with wildlife. 🌿
