Este lunes, KLC trabajó junto con la Escuela Nuevo Arenal para organizar el tercer Festival Anual de Inglés, ¡y fue un gran éxito! Los estudiantes en los grados K-6 participaron en una inmersión total en inglés a través de actividades divertidas que pusieron a prueba su trabajo en equipo, creatividad y habilidades lingüísticas! Trece estudiantes compitieron en el concurso oficial de ortografía, una competencia que evalúa las habilidades de ortografía en inglés de los estudiantes, con dificultad creciente. ¡Estamos muy agradecidos con Ronald, los maestros de la Escuela Nuevo Arenal y nuestros voluntarios por hacer posible este evento!

This Monday, KLC worked alongside the Nuevo Arenal School to host the 3rd annual English Festival, and it was a major success! Students in grades K-6 participated in full English immersion through fun activities that tested their teamwork, creativity, and language skills! Thirteen students competed in the official Spelling Bee — a competition that tests students’ English spelling abilities, with increasing difficulty. We’re very grateful to Ronald, the teachers at the Nuevo Arenal School, and our volunteers for making this event possible!

Grace es estudiante de segundo año en el College of William and Mary y estudia Relaciones Internacionales con especialización en estudios latinoamericanos y ciencia de datos. ¡Le apasiona ayudar a los demás y está increíblemente agradecida por esta oportunidad de servir a las familias de Nuevo Arenal fomentando un ambiente de aprendizaje positivo para sus niños! Si bien Grace trabajó anteriormente para una organización sin fines de lucro de desarrollo juvenil en su ciudad natal de Pittsburgh y también en un campamento de la iglesia durante siete años, está especialmente emocionada de trabajar dentro de una comunidad fuera de su cultura y país inmediatos.

Grace is currently a sophomore at the College of William and Mary, studying International Relations with a concentration in Latin American studies and Data Science. She has a passion for helping others and is incredibly grateful for this opportunity to serve the families of Nuevo Arenal by fostering a positive learning environment for its children! While Grace previously worked for a youth development non-profit in her home city of Pittsburgh and was a church camp counselor for seven years, she is especially thrilled to work within a community outside of her immediate culture and country.
