As the Chinese city of Xi'An and its 12 million people are shifting to a more sustainable urban mobility with the construction a multimodal public transport network, Citilinks team works since 2021 on the transformation of its city center following the completion of a new metro line.
By giving a different interpretation of traffic projection studies, we have proposed the creation of a green and cultural urban boulevard for DongDaJie Road, optimizing multimodal synergies between on-demand e-mobility and public transport to maximize pedestrian space and create a "cultural park avenue" reconnecting people with the Bell Tower at the center of the main roundabout of the city center.
At the end of the "cultural rambla" of Xi'An, a tridimensional public space has been designed to connect pedestrian areas, metro stations entrances and accesses to the Bell Tower.
The cycling network provides wide lanes to 2-wheelers and is completely independant and protected from the traffic.
DongDaJie Avenue is not accessible anymore to motorized commuters but offers instead multiple options of public transport supply and e-mobility services for residents, visitors and deliveries.
