Four Continents Champion”
Seven years ago, when I first started working with Yuna, I remember that from the very first practices she gave me the feeling of “skating with heart” — that joy that naturally flows out of her skating as she moves across the ice.
Through the years, there had been ups and downs, smiles and tears… but one thing was always there when we stepped on the ice together: the joy of skating with heart. I think that’s one of the biggest reasons we worked together for so many seasons — because we shared that feeling every time we were on the ice.
One of our mottos during practice was always: “Happy Time.”
Two seasons ago, when we created her free program “She,” it was the story of her skating journey — from childhood to what felt like a farewell to this sport — and also a “Thank you” to everyone who supported her along the way.
Even while watching her perform it as a goodbye, I still felt there was so much more inside her to show the world… and a higher place she could reach. I hoped she would continue her journey, so the world could see even more of her on the ice.
She stayed, she continued — with the support of so many people around the world who love skating — to keep sharing her heart on the ice.
Yesterday, seeing her step onto the podium made me relive all these years in just a moment. It brought joy to my heart — and made me proud to see her grow into the artist she is today. Thank you for the joy, Yuna. I’m happy to have been part of this journey with you.
