CRRC is the largest rail transit equipment supplier in the world, with the most complete production line and leading technology. Its main business includes R & D, design, manufacturing, repair, sales, leasing and technical services, consulting services, industrial investment and management, asset management, import and export of railway vehicles, urban rail transit vehicles, construction machinery, various electrical equipment, electronic equipment and parts, electrical products and environmental protection equipment.

As of 2016, CRRC's technology and services have covered 101 countries and regions and 11 market regions in six continents. It is a "one belt, one road" important partner in railway vehicle construction.

In November 2015, CRRC launched the first EMU in Europe and successfully started in Macedonia. On December 10, 2015, 15 90 "Olympic subway" trains of Brazil's Rio Metro Line 4 project produced by CRRC were officially put into operation. In the early morning of March 10, 2016, the Chicago transportation authority of the United States officially announced that CRRC had received an order for 846 metro cars in Chicago and would build a local plant.
