For millions of women and girls around the world, access to water isn’t just a daily chore it’s a barrier to education, health, and opportunity.

When women & girls have reliable water, they can go to school, start businesses, lead community projects, and take part in decisions that shape their future. Every tap, borehole, and sanitation improvement is more than infrastructure; it’s dignity, equality, and hope.

So let’s remember: where water flows, equality grows.

As we close this breast cancer awareness month, we celebrate a woman whose life embodies resilience, compassion, and unwavering strength, Helen Niba Ngum, member of our Supervisory Board, humanitarian, and breast cancer survivor.

Helen’s journey has not been an easy one. She faced one of life’s hardest battles, breast cancer , with a courage that inspired everyone around her. Even during the most difficult moments of her battle, when her health was fragile and her strength was tested, Helen chose hope. She chose to keep going.

Rather than stepping back, she continued her humanitarian work, serving in Abyei with the United Nations, bringing comfort, leadership, and compassion to communities in need. Her dedication to others, even with challenging health is a testament to her extraordinary spirit.

She reminds us that true strength is not found in the absence of struggle, but in the choice to rise above it.

Today, we celebrate her not only as a survivor, but as a symbol of hope for women everywhere. Her life is a beautiful reminder that God is faithful, that early detection and treatment can save lives including her ability to create ripples of change that reach far beyond survivors.

Helen, thank you for your courage, your service, and your light. You remind us every day that healing, leadership, and love can exist in the same heart. 💗

Every October, pink ribbons appear everywhere, reminding us of the importance of early detection and support. But for many in the breast cancer community, this month also brings mixed emotions.
In Cameroon, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, with over 4,200 new cases and about 2,285 registered deaths in 2022. The five-year survival rate is just 30%, showing the urgent need for research, early detection, and access to treatment.

The term “pinkwashing” has been used to describe the practice of organisations using pink ribbons or breast cancer narratives in marketing without a commitment to transparency, research funding or structural change.

This October, let’s go beyond awareness. Let’s support evidence-based action that saves lives, not just pink campaigns. 💕
