2 years ago I attended the Menstrual Health Hygiene Ambassador workshop, organized by the Girls Excel organization representing the Southwest region under the MARES Foundation of persons with disabilities where i became an ambassador for the project after the training.

On the 31st July, 2025, we got funded through the Girl Excel organization to educate and train teen girls and young women on Menstrual health hygiene and to train them on making usable pads and hand bracelets to help them track their Menstrual cycle.

As an organization, the Mares Foundation was able to organized and host 50 girls and women especially those with disabilities as participants of the project.

We remain grateful to the Girl Excel organization and look forward in working with them in the future and equally partnering with other organizations.

Can persons with disabilities swim in pools and beaches?

The answer is yes if you have swimming skills, just like those with no disabilities. On the other hand you will likely drown if you don't have this skills.

The ability to swim has nothing to do with being disabled or not but what really facilities us as being sustainable in the water is the water current.

Every pool of water has what we call the pulling and the pushing current, that's what really assist every person with disabilities to enjoy the pleasure of swimming.

Our organization was among other Organisations of Persons with Disabilities in Meme Division who came together discuss on how to enhance collaboration between OPDs and other CSCs and on how to amplifier our voices for effective advocacy for Disability Inclusion.

We look forward to improving and better coordination in the future.
