I don’t see anything wrong with this.
The rule doesn’t say you aren’t or can’t be addressed as Dr. after your PhD in nursing, it simply barres you from introducing yourself to the patient as such, because that’ll obviously cause confusion within the patient-care setting.

Imagine telling a patient “Hello, I am doctor Maxwell, and I am the nurse in charge of your care this shift”

The patient will be like; Dr. Nurse 😒😒🧐
Then you’ll go further to say, “no, I am a doctor because I have a PhD”. Na Show show for weti? 😒

Please save the patient from that stress, do your work, get your pay and go home. If you are so obsessed with the title, read medicine and leave nursing for nurses.

Except you did that PhD just for self actualization (to be addressed as Doctor), I don’t see why a nurse won’t be proud to introduce themselves as a nurse irrespective of their qualification, especially with a title that can create confusion, likeDoctor, and in circumstances like in a hospital setting, where several professionals including medical doctors will have to attend to one patient.

Introducing yourself as a nurse doesn’t take away your PhD, does it?

Patients basically know Dr. to be a physician, let’s not confuse them. I feel you can reserve your title for academic purposes, and for other settings and scenarios where it is necessary, and where it’ll not cause unnecessary confusion.

Even after my PhD, I will chuckle 🤭 when called Nurse, because I am an RN beforere any other title comes, and I am happy and proud being a nurse🥰
