Mike Yanou Foundation
28/11/2025
The Mike Yanou Foundation on the 27th Nov 2025, in collaboration with our valued partners, carried out another impactful school outreach as part of the 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This session focused on an important topic: “Substance Misuse and its Link to Violence Against Women and Girls.”
During the session, students explored how substance misuse can increase the risk of aggression, poor decision-making, and vulnerability to both physical and digital violence. We highlighted the ways drugs and alcohol can fuel harmful behaviors and contribute to Gender-Based Violence, emphasizing the importance of making safe, responsible choices for themselves and their peers.
Students were encouraged to:
• Recognize risky situations related to substance use
• Speak up and seek help from trusted adults, teachers, or authorities
• Support friends in making positive choices
• Understand the connection between substance misuse and digital/physical violence
This outreach, strengthened by the collaboration of our partners, reinforces our mission to empower young people, promote safe behaviors, and prevent violence in all its forms both online, offline, and in our communities
