Today we mark National Glacier Day in Chile (March 21), a date established in 2025 that coincides with the UN International Year of Glacier Preservation.

Chile is home to around 80% of South America’s glaciers, making these immense ice fields some of the most important freshwater reserves on the continent. From the vast Southern Patagonian Ice Field to the glaciers of Torres del Paine, they shape landscapes, ecosystems, and water systems across the Andes.

Glaciers are not only spectacular to witness—they are essential to protect. Click through the images to see some of the glaciers that are easy to visit if you are staying in Puerto Natales, or inside Torres del Paine National Park.

1) Visit: https://tlwbavote.com. If it’s your first time voting, you’ll need to confirm whether you currently reside in the United States and create an account. Only U.S. residents are eligible to win a $10,000 cash prize or a Viking Cruise.

2) Provide some basic information, such as your gender and age.
