☀️ Throwback summer recipe to warm your heart on these grey autumn days!
Let’s remember the warm, sweet touches of sun and summer together.
I live in Zurich with love, but my heart also belongs to two special destinations in Türkiye: Istanbul, where I spent almost 20 years of my life, and Datça — a beautiful peninsula where I have my second home, where the Mediterranean and Aegean seas meet along the enchanting southwest Riviera.
At the end of August, I enjoyed a late-summer day in Datça and created an easy yet delicious recipe in the garden of our summer home. I used golden figs from the local villagers’ market — fresh from their gardens. While in Zurich and most of Europe we mostly see purple figs, these golden figs — grown only in certain corners of the Mediterranean — hide a honey-like sweetness beneath their delicate, thin skin.
I made two versions: one gluten-free with buckwheat pops and another with crêpes. Since my mom had already prepared crêpes for breakfast, I decided to turn them into a light, healthy dessert to pair with our Turkish coffee. For the topping, I used fresh cheese, though ricotta or mascarpone would be just as delicious. And to honour Datça, famous for its aromatic pine honey, I finished the dish with a golden drizzle.
✨ Easy recipe for 2 crêpes:
• 1 egg
• 125 ml milk
• 70 g (4 tbsp) all-purpose flour
Mix until smooth, cook in a pan until lightly golden, then top with fresh cheese and sliced figs. Add a final touch of pine honey… and enjoy!
💛 Save this recipe & bring summer back to your table 💛
