When Joey Barnes was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2021 at 40 years old, he responded with humour, a podcast, and a promise to speak openly about a disease many men never discuss.

Testicular cancer has an overall five-year survival rate of around 95% when caught early. Late diagnosis remains the key risk.

After his death, his mother founded Having A Ball, a UICC member organisation and advocate for , to normalise conversations about men's health and encourage early self-examination, and essentially save lives.

Organised by Léman hope, a UICC member, this swimming event raises funds to support therapeutic sailing trips for children and teenagers in remission from cancer.
 
UICC’s own ”Orange Waves” team will join the swimming challenge today and has been raising funds to support this inspiring cause.
