🌏💧 Améliorer l'accès à l’eau potable au Bangladesh 💧🌏

Le Bangladesh est confronté à de graves problèmes d'eau, de nombreuses communautés dépendant d'eaux de surface polluées ou de nappes phréatiques contaminées par l'arsenic. Garantir une eau potable sûre reste une préoccupation majeure, en particulier dans les zones vulnérables et isolées.

Le mois dernier, notre Responsable Technique Hachem Znaidi, a visité un site pilote à Gowainghat, où un simple système WATA standard fournit désormais de l'eau potable à 6 000 personnes. Ce projet s'inscrit dans le cadre d'un effort plus large visant à mettre en place une production de chlore locale pour les systèmes ruraux d'approvisionnement en eau courante, les hôpitaux et les écoles.

➡️ Principaux enseignements de la visite :

✅ La technologie WATA offre une solution de chlore fiable, sur place, réduisant la dépendance à l'égard d'approvisionnements en chlore peu fiables.
✅ Les opérateurs et les communautés font confiance au système, ce qui garantit une meilleure salubrité de l'eau et une durabilité du traitement à long terme.
✅ Cette initiative améliore l'accès à l'eau potable pour des milliers de personnes vulnérables et contribue à créer des communautés en meilleur santé.

Les réunions avec le Département de l'ingénierie de la santé publique (DPHE), UNICEF Bangladesh et Médecins Sans Frontières / MSF ont renforcé l'urgence de déployer des solutions efficaces de traitement de l'eau. En permettant une production de chlore rentable et décentralisée, WATA Technology est prête à participer à la construction d'un système d'approvisionnement en eau plus résilient et durable pour le Bangladesh.

🌍 Améliorer l’accès à l’eau potable au Cameroun 🌍

Début décembre, notre équipe était dans un orphelinat situé au nord de Douala pour installer un système de chloration financé par l’association Child Life Action.

Ce système, équipé d’une unité WATA Technology et d’une pompe doseuse DOSATRON, permet de produire du chlore actif localement et de l’injecter dans le système d'approvisionnement en eau, garantissant ainsi une eau de boisson exempte de bactéries et de virus pathogènes. En utilisant du chlore produit localement, l'orphelinat ne sera plus dépendant d’achat en chlore coûteux et à la disponibilité aléatoire, réduisant ainsi la charge financière de l’institution et garantissant un approvisionnement constant en eau potable pour les bénéficiaires.

Cette initiative reflète notre engagement en faveur de solutions durables et efficaces qui renforcent l'autonomie des communautés. Ensemble, nous faisons de l'eau potable une réalité pour ceux qui en ont le plus besoin.

📊 During the visit, Joël engaged in productive discussions about how our innovative WATA Technology can support WfW's ongoing efforts in collaboration with local water authorities. Together, they are exploring ways to reduce operational costs for managing smaller water networks.

Highlights on “The contribution of decentralized water systems on water quality in Maniema province, DRC”, a study financed by Enabel en RD Congo and conducted in Mikelenge and Kasuku, two communities leaving in the city of Kindu.

🌍 75% of DRC population cannot access in-home piped water, and therefore rely on self-supply from multiple water sources. Drinking water quality is low across the DRC and is responsible for negative health outcomes such as enteric diseases. The region of Kindu has been particularly affected by cholera outbreaks in the past years.

🔎 The influence of Decentralized Water Systems (DWS) on the community’s water quality was assessed through the measurement Free Residual Chlorine (FRC) & microbiological contaminations from the initial source to households’ water containers.

❗ FRC plays a crucial role in preventing microbiological contamination that can occur during the transportation and storage process.

💧 After DWS construction on both sites, equipped with WATA-PLUS and MAXI-WATA electrochlorinators for on-site active chlorine production, household water quality has been considerably improved !

💡 Key findings of the study on WATA technology, combined with a dosing and injection system:
✔ operationally feasible in large water networks
✔ properly adopted by the ASUREP, the local professional community operating drinking water network in DRC
✔ provide proper residual chlorination at point of consumption, effectively preventing microbiological contamination in households for 12 hours
