Nestlé has committed to reducing child labor and increasing access to education in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.

The company’s Child Labor Monitoring and Remediation System (CLMRS) has successfully tackled child labor but won't stop there.

This large corporation has been able to help over 128,000 children both inside and outside of its supply chain.

Through their experience, they have noticed that education is a particularly effective way of preventing and reducing child labor. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that they provide access to quality education.

Since starting the program in 2012, they have managed to build or refurbish 53 schools and provided school kits, and financed the delivery of birth certificates to improve access to education for over 40,000 children.

They have also created 'bridge schools' designed to help children who have missed out on schooling. Smaller class sizes have allowed them to deliver two years' worth of the national curriculum in nine months, aiding children to become literate and numerate.

Nestle has built 98 of these schools with their partner, the Jacobs Foundation In addition, they plan to set up a further 60 bridging classes to help over 1,600 children.
