Passover

Today is "World Teacher's Day" and a good opportunity to introduce to you Miss Ruth Clark who was a beloved teacher at our Anglican School. Ruth came to Israel in 1909 and worked in CMJ's Girls Day School for 56 years. It started at Christ Church was the first school in the Middle East that taught core subjects to girls. Until this day, students of the school remember Miss Clark with great affection. One remembers that day in 1947 when on her way to school, the riots broke out:

"Miss Clark was so kind. I was still crying so she took me to her room and made me a cup of tea. She dried my face and told me not to worry, that they would look after us. And before evening, every girl who had come to school that day was taken home by armed escort.”
