Today Emmanuel and Alexi have started their climb to summit Mt Margarita in the Rwenzoris. They are doing this in support of all African rangers as part of the Wildlife Ranger Challenge. The trek will take 10 days and 42 Kms. They will be ascending 3919m to finally summit at 5119m. Mt Margarita is the third highest peak in Africa. Joining the trek is Jerome Gabriel (Virunga Investment) and (Virunga Infrastructure).

It has been an incredibly difficult year but we have managed to keep our gorillas safe despite the challenges of growing insecurity and the financial crisis caused by COVID 19. To try and keep this effort going, we are launching an adopt a gorilla campaign today, World Gorilla Day, to help us keep our orphan gorilla safe together with our extraordinary population in the wild.
