Sawing as Therapy at Esther Project NCE.
Sewing as a therapy was fully developed and practiced at Glenside Hospital in the 19th century, then known as Bristol Lunatic Asylum (BLA). It was opened in 1861, to provide moral treatment; A regular lifestyle would help restore the damaged brain.
It is true that constant wars, covid-19 outbreak and volcano eruption have caused many problems and disasters in our country; thus causing the separation of some households due to the fact that the father cannot support his family. These reasons have led our community through Project Esther to bring victims together and stand with them so that they can break out of this cycle while defending themselves against human cruelty.
In these difficult times, many women have learned to sew to cope with these sufferings that society has imposed on them.
Thanks to this project, many have been able to fend for themselves by supporting their families.
For some, sewing is considered a hobby, but for us it is more than that, as it provides mental health benefits as well as integration into society for those who were excluded.
The province of North Kivu has suffered from frequent wars which have increased mental health problems as well as violence against women. Following these atrocities, our community continued to provide sewing machines to the women victims of this violence so that they could do their own business and provide for their daily needs.
Sewing training is an opportunity for women to make their voices heard and even more to make a place for themselves in society and communities.
Would do you like to donate a sewing machine and change life?
Just $125.
