This year is an incredible milestone for us at Hawthorne Kitchens & Co.

Every legacy starts somewhere, and ours begins in 1946.

As we celebrate 80 years of Hawthorne, we're taking a look back at where it all began.

In 1946, founder Isaac Dyck started the small woodworking business of Hawthorne Woodworks. Long before kitchens, Hawthorne was crafting ladders, woodworking projects, and custom-built pieces with a commitment to quality workmanship that would stand the test of time.

The kitchens of the late 1940s looked very different than they do today. They were smaller, highly functional spaces designed primarily for meal preparation. Gathering, entertaining, and serving as the heart of the home were not widely reasons behind the functionality of kitchens during this time.

Over the last eight decades, kitchen design has evolved dramatically. What hasn't changed is the value of thoughtful craftsmanship and our commitment to it.

Four generations later, Hawthorne continues to build on the same foundation: quality, attention to detail, and creating spaces that are made to last.

This is where our story began.

Join us as we journey through the decades and explore how kitchens—and Hawthorne—have evolved over the last 80 years.

Pro Tip: Storage is a design decision, not an afterthought. 💡

You can’t just “add storage” at the end of a kitchen build or renovation. A good kitchen is designed around smart storage and cabinetry solutions from the very beginning.
